After completing college, I took a reliable (read: boring) 9 to 5. So I decided to make myself more marketable by teaching myself to code. 18 months after first learning I quit that job to teach web development at Skillcrush and freelance full-time.

Work history

Frontend Developer + Full-time Side Hustler
As a self-taught front-end developer, I turn designs into code to enhance a client's web presence. As a full-time side hustler + remote worker, I understand the need to make your site your primary selling tool and greatest example of yourself + your work.
Consolidated Facility Services
Communications Specialist
I created marketing materials and disseminated internal communications for the company. I also coordinated employee appreciation events for CFS and corporate events for sister company GW Entertainment.
Council on Hemispheric Affairs
Office Manager
I investigated current issues of the Anglophone Caribbean and authored bi-weekly articles. I was responsible for copyediting up to 20 articles per week and maintaining a publication schedule.
Content Creator
My freelance career started with creating business marketing materials for start-ups and has grown to include designing and coding professional websites. I live to support passionate people doing things that they love.
Frontend Web Developer Teaching Assistant
At Skillcrush, I introduce budding frontend developers to the web via static and responsive HTML & CSS. I also have spearheaded the revamping of the Alumni community via transforming to a new platform, new programs, and events.

What I read

I read Toni Morrison for fun. I read The Economist to keep current on world affairs and I read web design and content management blogs, such as Contently, to keep current on trends. I'm working my way through the Book A Part library.

Side projects

Currently, I'm working part-time at Skillcrush as a Frontend Development TA and I'm championing the new Alumni community. My current side hustle is my workout top line

Ideal team

I prefer joining small/med. sized where I still know most of my team. If I am a freelancer I prefer to have one primary contact after the project launch. I enjoy setting my own schedule and mini-project goals and overcommunication.
