I earned my writing chops first as a deadline-driven journalist, then as a corporate communicator, and finally as a freelancer supporting busy content managers.

Work history

Web News Director
I was responsible for managing top features across the company intranet and weekly email newsletters, as well as researching and writing articles, collaborating with senior writers, and managing web projects.
Communications Manager
I managed content for the Leidos intranet home page and crafted strategic communications plans to help senior managers communicate initiatives to employees.
Contract Writer
I support VSSL with content such as case studies. Other projects have included video scripts, web content, and white papers.

Innovative Coasters Help Brewery Boost Website Conversions

The client initially wanted a case study rewritten. After a quick interview with them to figure out their goals, I wrote the case study from scratch and gave it the polish they wanted. They were so pleased, I wrote several more case studies for them.

Why Every CEO Needs a Peer Advisory Group

The client wanted an ebook based on some existing content and an interview with the comms manager. They wanted it fairly quickly. I delivered this on time, and with minimal edits needed.

State of Scrum Report 2017

The client had a particular vision in mind: write a report that not only summed up their survey results, but also positioned the organization as a trend-setter in the world of workplace innovation. I interviewed four sources, which was a lot to juggle, but the result was a very strong piece.

Why a Mobile-Friendly Website Is a Smart Business Decision

The agency wanted to position itself as a thought leader and a solutions provider for small businesses who needed a strong web presence. I worked closely with the agency's project manager on this ebook. It shows my ability to write about an important topic in a light, breezy style.

Gallery Grand

San Diego Home & Garden/Lifestyles is a beautiful, monthy print magazine. Like other articles I wrote for the publication, I interviewed the source onsite so that I could accurately describe the house and capture the owners' personalities. This article won a San Diego Press Club award.

Ideal team

I like working with content managers who know exactly what they want and when they need it. They're able to facilitate interviews and the review cycle. I work best when I report to one manager, preferably one with an editorial background.
