I've been a contract writer for the Associated Press since 1990, covering all major sports in Detroit. I've worked for FOX Sports Detroit as a web writer. I've run social media campaigns and did non-profit research and report writing.

Work history

Associated Press
Contract writer
I've worked for AP, covering every major sporting event in SE Michigan. My regular beats are the Tigers, Pistons and Lions, but I have also covered college football and basketball (UM and MSU), the Red Wings and major golf, soccer and auto-racing events.
Director of Promotions
I ran the promotion and social-media campaigns for Detcon1, the 2014 North American Science Fiction Convention. This involved outreach to the community and media, plus extensive use of Facebook (including ads), Twitter and other social-media platforms.
Michigan Campaign Finance Network
Researched and wrote reports on money in Michigan politics for a non-profit advocacy group in Lansing. The research involved everything from an exhaustive indexing of campaign-finance reports to logging campaign' and PAC TV ads.

What I read

I'm a heavy reader of non-fiction, especially history. My specialty areas are medieval history as well as the American Revolutionary War, Civil War and the two World Wars. I also read many books and blogs about sports, and I enjoy science-fiction novels.

Ideal team

I can work as part of a team or alone, but I'm best when I'm given assignments with a tight deadline. My years of wire-service experience have taught me how to work quickly and accurately. My AP work has also gotten me used to work odd times and dates.
