Marian understands the core of content marketing - understanding audience. This superior knowledge informs her working strategy and output. I was very impressed and have been extremely happy with all the work she's completed for us.

Marian is very talented, with amazing writing and story-telling skills. Since she started working with WisePops, she became a real member of the team, and we benefit from her extensive experience and highly valuable inputs every day!

If there's one thing I love about Marian, it's the clarity of her voice as a writer. She leaps off the page. Marian helped me create copy and messaging for my own brand, and in the process helped me find my own authentic voice as a business owner. Personally, Marian is SO MUCH FUN to work with. Being around her makes ME feel more creative, a commodity I always have room for in my life.

Marian and I have worked on several projects together over the past few years and I can tell you without hesitation that she is an ABSOLUTE JOY. Always professional and personable, she is a force that you would be fortunate to get the opportunity to work with. She knows how to make any idea or project richer and/or practical, and better yet, knows how to get it done. I would work with Marian again in a heartbeat and hope to do so again before much longer.

Marian makes difficult, time-consuming work simple and fun. We Skyped a few times and BOOM! Suddenly I had a million spectacular ideas that felt like they came from me. And all I had to do was hang out and shoot the shit?! Are you kidding me?! Who else can make that happen? She tricked me into getting work done that I didn't want to do! How'd she do that?

I identify the sticky pieces of your story that belong in your business copy. A story optimized for web and primed for conversion.

Work history

Thumbtack
Marketing Manager
I run the Thumbtack blog, a place to educate and inspire our community of pros. It now has 12k monthly readers. I also turned a thousand user stories into a series of YouTube videos which reached 10k views with zero advertising budget.
Couchsurfing
Social Media Manager
I took the world's biggest travel community (in every country on earth), balanced their diverse interests and created a content strategy. The result? A 119% increase in engagement and 26% increase in story collecting in 3 months.
Puhoi Valley Cheese
Social Media Manager
Through creative Facebook content I helped Puhoi gain 23k new fans in 6 months, which led to an 18% increase in sales (this was after several years’ of steady business decline).
Cook Islands Tourism
Project Manager
Managed the creation of a Facebook competition for Cook Islands tourism that received 12,000 entries and delivered 20,000 new fans to their Facebook page in just four weeks.
Harper Collins
Project Manager
Managed Facebook advertising for new imprint, HarperStudio, to target readers of similar books and get new releases on the map.
The Penny Hoarder
Writer
My posts regularly get 50k pageviews and feature everything from an 8-year-old who makes $127,000 on YouTube or tricks to save money and travel the world.

Portfolio

VIDEO: Thumbtack Pro Story

I created a series of videos featuring our amazing pros and how they've grown their business through Thumbtack. This particular video features housecleaner John Monty and how he tripled his business using Thumbtack (and features some sweet dance moves).

WEBSITE: Couchsurfing Corporate Pages

I wrote and project managed the development and design of the oh-so-important about pages for the Couchsurfing website. I'm outrageously proud of it.

ARTICLE: Offbeat Bride's viral engagement photos

While a personal project, my now husband and I created a series of gender-bending engagement photos which went viral online. I wrote the original post on Offbeat Bride which was then picked up by Yahoo, The Global Mail, Huffington Post and Jezebel.

BLOG: The Write Life

I contribute frequently to The Write Life, a blog about writing and creativity. My posts revolve around creative habits we can all adopt to not only be better writers, but better creators in everything we do.

BLOG: The Penny Hoarder

I also write about money! Sometimes it's weird ways to make and save it, other times it's writing about things like how Gwyneth Paltrow can't survive on food stamps.

What I read

Everything I can get my hands on - commercial fiction, obscure self-published sci-fi, memoir, essays, non-fiction books on work and psychology and diet, travel books, blog posts, short stories, poetry, bestsellers, horror, romance.

Side projects

My blog has been featured in major publications like TIME and Real Simple. It was listed one of the 101 Best Websites for Writers by Writer's Digest.

Ideal team

I'm obsessed with obsession. The goals that keep you up at night. I love talking to people who constantly want to improve and are open to weird ideas to get them there. Brainstorming is my jam.
