Experience

Summary

It all started when I ran a social network way before anyone really knew what one was. That, and a side gig writing for radio and theatre, led to a decade of helping organisations tell their stories in creative and effective ways.

Work history

Creative & Strategy Director
D&AD awarded branding and design agency. Advising clients on creative solutions to complex communications challenges. Clients included Penguin, The Mail Group, The Children’s Society, WSP and the Labour Party.
Creative Director
Leading 'word of mouth' agency specialising in social and digital media. Looking after all creative work leaving the London, Sydney, Berlin & Dubai offices for clients including Microsoft, PlayStation, Lego, Red Bull, the BBC & Benefit Cosmetics.
Freelance writer and creative director
Working with startups, agencies, media companies & more to engage audiences in interesting ways e.g.writing compelling copy and scripts, curating festivals, exploring virtual reality and creating projects and campaigns that share stories far and wide.

What I read

Anything I can get my hands on. I don't always enjoy it, but I've always been keen to try new things. I have a huge collection of independent magazines in particular, as well as a healthy RSS feed I try and overhaul every 3 months or so.

Side projects

Who doesn't love a side project? I always have a few online experiments on the go (photography, building twitter bots) which you can see at http://robbi.es and I love answering interesting questions (often on the Olympics and athletics) over on Quora.

Ideal team

The ideal team is the team who genuinely wants to solve the problem at hand (and then find another problem they can smash through too!) Who it is, how many, where they are? I don't mind. As long as the passion is there, it's always an exciting ride.
