Content Copywriting Social Media

I'm a trained journalist. I've spent 15 years editing captions & as-broadcast scripts for TV. I've blogged for 12 years, 5 of them as a well-paid pro in the home/decor industry. I've been engaged in social media since 2006 with 12,000+ followers.

Work history

Line 21 Media Services
I've been employed by Line 21 since September, 2000, as an editor of captions and as-broadcast scripts for television. I still work for them part-time.
Pro Blogger
I wrote nearly 500 blogs for BuildDirect between April, 2011 and April, 2016. Sadly, the blogging team (and editor!) was gutted in favor of being written in-house by the marketing division.
Stage 3 Systems
Website content creator
A marine shipping software giant, Stage 3 needed site copy and I delivered.
Team blogger
Bob Vila has been leading the home reno industry for over 30 years with 3 television series. His website has been going strong for over a decade. I'm a recent addition to the team, writing 3 articles a week.

Jian Versus the CBC

I wrote this op-ed when Canada's beloved radio host claimed he was wrongfully dismissed for liking rough sex. In three days I scored nearly 300,000 views & changed the conversation around his firing in Canada.

Unmerciful World: Philip Seymour Hoffman, Us, and the Scourge of Addiction

Another big hit for me, I got 70,000 reads on Medium with this piece written the day that Philip Seymour Hoffman died. More opinion-editorial.

Istria & the Magic of Motovun

Motovun seems a lifetime ago. A video appeared in my Facebook feed tonight, leaving me with strange mingling of pride, love, and longing. I haven’t written much about Motovun because words have yet to be invented for describing it...

Solved! What to Do About a Leaky Roof

My current "paid" blogging gig: When it's raining inside your house, there's never time to spare. You may not always be able to fix a leaky roof yourself, but you can take steps to mitigate the damage—and the cost of repair.

5 Ways to Weather Wood

My current paid blogging gig: With any of these 5 easy DIY methods, you can weather new wood and add years of rustic charm in a weekend—or less!

Is Globalization The Collapse Of Culture?

On Huffington Post: Globalization: A term I've heard half my life, maybe longer. I always knew what it meant, but not until I myself became a global nomad did I really grasp what it meant.

What I read

Legal Nomads, Daily Beast, New York Times, travel blogs in general, Washington Post, Globe and Mail, Vox, and tons of random articles via Twitter and Facebook. I follow SO MANY journalists it's impossible to list them & their publications!

Side projects

Honestly, I spent three years working non-stop with my day job and pro blogging, just to pay down debt so I could travel the world. There wasn't a lot of "side project time," -I- am my side project, getting to travel non-stop was my side project.

Ideal team

I play well with others but I need to work remotely, because today I'm in Mexico, in 6 weeks, Canada, & 6 weeks after, Eastern Europe. I am a professional. I make deadlines happen. I like hip, forward-thinking companies. Give me a project and watch me go.
